Review of the Huawei Ascend II

The review of the Huawei Ascend II has to begin with a cave. This is not a GSM device. For practical purposes that fact means that you will not be able to use it on a worldwide network. One might have thought that the manufacturers would want to expand the client base rather than creating unnecessary difficulties. In general terms the review notes the specification of a 2G network with readings of CDMA 800 / 1900. The 3G reading is CDMA2000 1xEV-DO. Although this gadget was announced in July 2011, we are only beginning to review it on a serious basis.

Specifications: The dimensions of the Huawei Ascend II are passable at 117 by 61 by 13 mm. That means that you will be carrying a total weight of about 120 grams. You may think that this is too much but at the same time you have to consider the kinds of features that you will be getting in return for your troubles. This is the kind of gadget that can make a difference when you want to dominate proceedings. We love the touch sensitive controls which were something of a revelation during the review. The display is supported by a TFT capacitive touchscreen with up to 256K colors. The size of the pixels that can be produced is 320 by 480 over 3.5 inches. The sound alert times range from vibration to MP3 ring tones. This is enough variety for those people that are used to working with mobile phones.

We have noted the inclusion of a loudspeaker in the pack that covers the Huawei Ascend II. Moreover you get a 3.5 mm jack which means that you can move around even as you process the various data output streams. A card slot allows you to expand the memory up to 32 GB. Internal memory readings include a RAM worth 256MB and ROM worth 512 MB. Unfortunately the gadget does not come with GPRS capabilities and that has been one of the criticisms during the review. The speed Rev goes up to 3.1 Mbps. A Wi-Fi spot is included for your convenience and you can even use Bluetooth facilities with this gadget.

Watch out for the geo tagging that is attached to the Huawei Ascend II. It seems that they have gone out of their way to ensure that the innovation is given the maximum airing possible. The end result is a gadget that is sufficiently moving on its terms. An Android Gingerbread facility is another winning point for the system. The CPU processing capabilities are supported by no fewer than 600 MHz together with an accelerometer. A compass and proximity tool is included in the package.

Pros: The specification on the Huawei Ascend II is pretty impressive. You get great performance in something that is ultimately portable.

Cons: Some of the features require polish. This is a minor complaint in a gadget that seems to be flying away with the review.

Editor rating: Based on the salient points that have been raised during the review of the Huawei Ascend II, we can offer it 4 stars out of 5.
