A Review of the Seagate Momentus XT

The Seagate Momentus XT is in its second generation and the review notes that it is capable of producing 750GB. Moreover you can expect performance levels that are very similar to the solid state drives or SSDs. At the same time the pricing strategy for this product is very generous. It is capable of supporting the SATA 3 or 6Gbps. The storage space is ample enough for everyone that wants to take advantage of the facilities. On the downside you will notice that the pricing strategy is higher than ordinary drives which have the same storage space. The data copy speed is also slower than the premium hard drives that are becoming popular.

Specifications: The Seagate Momentus XT is very similar to the first generation output. It can work for the PC, desktop and laptop. The performance framework that it brings to the table is admirable and the cost is manageable if you take into consideration all the facilities that it can bring to the table. Over 12 months ago they released the older version. The flash memory has been increased by 100% while the storage space is up by 50%. These are figures which would be impressive for any review. The things that have remained constant include the boot features and wake up time. The application loading is also fairly manageable. The challenge arises when you are trying to implement data transfer protocols. They have simply not created the right framework for this sort of work. Nevertheless you can get away with using it as the main drive for your computer. It is also capable of hosting the operating system effectively.

Seagate Momentus XT

The pricing strategy has been set at $250 and therefore you may feel that it works better for you when compared to the other SSDs on the market today. The Drive Type they have in mind is internal and they have various connector options. These are the SATA 3 which is worth 6Gbps, SATA and SATA2.  The product is fairly portable with dimensions that have been estimated at 9mm thick and 2.5” on the standard scale. The OS support structure includes Linux, Windows and Mac. We love the hybrid storage protocol which is very flexible especially if you are involved in multiple functionality spheres across the board. An embedded algorithm known as the adaptive memory technology has been included. This allows you to automatically transfer information. This saves time and capacity for other operations. The spin rate for the drive has been listed at 7200 rpm.

Pros: According to the review of the Seagate Momentus XT, you get great functionality. The combination of virtual and static memory is particularly effective. They have been conservative with some of the design features but that is not something to be too worried about.

Cons: The data copy speeds for the Seagate Momentus XT product are not really impressive. A review of the product shows that they have been rather reserved in their management of this particular aspect of the functionality.

Editor rating: Based on the specifications and pricing strategy, the Seagate Momentus XT review concludes that the product is worthy of 4 stars out of 5.
