Review of the Logitech Solar Keyboard Folio

The campaigners are always talking about the possibility of renewable energy. Now we have a chance to review the Logitech Solar Keyboard Folio, a product that fits right in. It is an experience that allows you to type on an iPad using the sun as your main source of energy. Green technology has finally met convenience in order to create a product of our times.

Specifications: It is not often that we review an accessory that hits many environmental notes right. This is the latest iPad accessory to come via the Logitech brand. They have opted to ditch the traditional USB charger in favor of good old solar energy. To be honest they are on a roll with the Logitech Solar Keyboard Folio. It is a well-made keyboard accessory which is almost as good as the Ultrathin Keyboard Cover, a firm favorite with previous reviews.

Forget those USB charging cables that were a necessary evil when working with other accessories. The Logitech Solar Keyboard Folio also benefits from the fact that it does not look clunky no matter how finicky you are with your choices. It works by orientating two different angles. One side is for typing while the alternative side is for media viewing at an angle. That means that the keys are all covered up except for a row of media-orientated controls right at the bottom.

Some magnets will wake and sleep an iPad 2 automatically. The same can be said of a 3rd generation iPad. On a full charge, this Bluetooth keyboard will last for 2 years if you type for 2 hours a day. You can now get it at a pre-order cost of $130

Pros: Anything that works to save the environment is very commendable.

Cons: The specifications appear ambitious. We will have to wait and see how they hold up.

Editor Rating: Perhaps the Logitech Solar Keyboard Folio deserves an initial rating of 4 stars out of 5.
